Farhan Saeed has had two careers that most people would be happy with one of. As the former lead vocalist of Jal he helped define a decade of Pakistani pop; as an actor he became one of the most bankable leads on television.

Quick facts

  • Born: 14 September 1984
  • Profession: Singer-songwriter, actor, entrepreneur
  • Known for: Udaari, Suno Chanda, Mere Humsafar
  • Also: Former lead vocalist of Jal; owns the Cafe Rock restaurant in Lahore

The Jel years

Saeed fronted Jal during the band's most commercially successful era, and his voice carried songs that are still played in every corner of the country. When he moved on, he already had the kind of name recognition that takes other actors decades.

The acting chapter

He made his acting debut with De Ijazat Jo Tu (2014) and had his breakthrough in Udaari (2016), a drama that earned him a Hum Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Then came Suno Chanda, the Eid comedy that became an annual tradition, and Mere Humsafar (2022), one of the decade's most popular dramas, which turned him into a leading man whose name alone can sell a show.

Still singing

Music has never left the picture: he continues to record, and his wedding-era favourites remain fixtures of the airwaves. He is also a businessman, with the Cafe Rock restaurant in Lahore among his ventures.

Two careers, one name, and no intention of slowing down.
