Osman Khalid Butt is one of Pakistani drama's most versatile talents: an actor who moves between romantic leads and comedy with ease, a writer with a distinctive voice, and a choreographer by training. The combination has made him a favourite for a decade.

Quick facts

  • Born: 1986
  • Profession: Actor, writer, choreographer
  • Known for: Diyar-e-Dil, Chupke Chupke, Ehd-e-Wafa
  • Awards: Two Hum Awards, an ARY Film Award, and two Lux Style Award nominations

The roles that made him

Butt first came to national attention as Wali Sohaib Khan in Diyar-e-Dil (2015), a character that turned him into a household name. Ehd-e-Wafa (2019) built on that success with his Malik Shahzain, and the feel-good comedy Chupke Chupke (2021) proved that he could carry a show's lightest moments as naturally as its heaviest.

A writer's instinct

His work as a screenwriter and essayist feeds his acting: Butt writes with the same humour and precision that audiences see on screen, and the combination has made him a sought-after collaborator for shows that need both warmth and wit.

Beyond the set

Outside acting he is a familiar voice on social media and in theatre circles, still connected to the scene that shaped him. Two Hum Awards and an ARY Film Award have followed, along with repeated Lux Style Award nominations.

Versatility is easy to claim and hard to sustain, and Butt has built a career on actually sustaining it.
